Courses for the current semester, previous 3 semesters, and one future semester are available on Blackboard. Future courses are made available approximately 90 days before the start of the semester.
Courses are removed from Blackboard on a rolling year plus one semester schedule. For example, at the start of the Spring 2012 semester, Fall 2010 courses are removed. At the start of the Fall 2012 semester, Summer 2011 courses are removed. The link below provides the dates in which courses will be deleted from Blackboard:
It is strongly recommended that course instructors create both archive and export files of their courses at the end of each semester. If the course is only offered every other year, for example, instructors will be able to restore the content from the archive file on their computer even if the course is removed from Blackboard. Course archive files contain all course content AND all student work. Course export files contain only course content, but no student data.
Students only have access to their courses while they are on Blackboard (current semester, three previous semesters, and one future semester once the course has been created in Banner and the student has registered for the course).
Fall 2010 courses will be removed from Blackboard on Wednesday, February 15, 2012. For additional information and instructions on how to export and archive your course content, view the Course Retention Policy:
